The Punjab government has decided to set up two new universities, a working paper is being prepared for the establishment of a Punjab University sub-campus in Pattoki and a University of Kasur.



According to details, on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, an estimate has been made for the establishment of two government universities. The Chief Minister's Secretariat has estimated the cost of setting up the University of Kasur at Rs. 4 crore. The Punjab University is proposing to allocate a grant of Rs. 25 million for setting up a sub-campus at Pattoki. The Department of Higher Education has not been consulted in the preparation of working papers for the establishment of Kasur University and Punjab University Pattoki Campus. In this regard, the department has been kept ignorant.


On the other hand, the Higher Education Commission has decided to conduct online teaching courses for teachers of public and private universities. In the first phase, the HEC will conduct training courses for 403 teachers. A special online teaching course has been formulated by the commission. This course will be taught to university teachers. HEC has completed scrutiny for selection of teachers from public and private universities.


HEC will conduct a four-week training course for online teaching. Through the training course, university teachers will be introduced to modern methods of quality education and curriculum. Certificates will be issued by HEC to the teachers participating in the training course. In Phase-II, another 500 teachers of universities will be trained.


 It may be mentioned that earlier, a plan was prepared to set up libraries in 410 high schools of Punjab including 35 schools in Lahore. Libraries will be set up in 410 high schools to inculcate book reading in the students. Libraries will also be set up in 35 high schools of Lahore. Books approved by the Punjab Text Book Board will be kept for the library.
