Harvard University Will Not Accept Foreign Students Following Trump’s New Action: Over a quarter of Harvard University’s students. The body was impacted when the U.S. Department of Homeland Security revoked the university’s certification to admit international students. A major development that further exacerbates the conflict between the Trump administration and one of America’s most prominent universities. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made the announcement Thursday in a letter. Pointing to the university’s noncompliance with federal requirements concerning its hiring and admissions procedures. According to the letter, Harvard’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVIS) certification has been revoked, with immediate effect.

Criticized Harvard administration by President Donald Trump

This action comes after previous President Donald Trump, who has publicly criticized Harvard’s administration, issued a number of warnings. He has charged the organization with promoting what he refers to as “woke” liberal ideas and anti-Semitic sentiments. Specifically, Harvard has allegedly objected to Trump’s demands that it subject to government control.

Enrolling international students is a privilege, not a right, and all educational institutions must follow the rules to maintain that status, Secretary Noem stressed in her letter. Noem stated, “You have lost this privilege,” referring to Harvard’s purported unwillingness to provide DHS with information, its encouragement of an antagonistic atmosphere against Jewish students, and its implementation of diversity and inclusion policies that the administration considers discriminatory.

According to Harvard university Data

Additionally, data from the 2024–2025 academic year shows that more than 27 % of Harvard’s student body is international. Therefore, the university’s academic and cultural fiber, as well as its standing internationally, could be drastically impacted if SEVIS certification is lost. The revocation has not yet received a written response from Harvard. In the midst of larger discussions concerning campus speech, diversity policy, and the presence of international students, the action is one of the more forceful ones taken by Trump’s administration against a prestigious university and suggests a heightened level of political scrutiny over higher education.
