Students from Pakistan Win 2 Global Oxford Awards: According to Oxford University Press Pakistan (OUPP), Pakistani students have once again won two of the six coveted international prizes in the Oxford Big Read (OBR) competition, marking a noteworthy accomplishment for the country’s young literary talent.

This is the second time Pakistan has received this honor, highlighting the nation’s rising literary stature internationally. To recognize and commemorate the exceptional accomplishments of the national and international champions. Two prize distribution events were held in Karachi and Islamabad, respectively.

With more than 7,000 entries from 575 schools worldwide, including those in Pakistan, India, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, and Argentina, this year’s competition set a new record. Each nation’s national champion made it to the Oxford Big Read Global semifinals, where the final six world champions were chosen.

We are pleased to announce the following Pakistani contestants as the sixth worldwide campaign winners:
  • Droshum Ali, Level 3 (Grade 9) Global Winner, Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Kharadar, Karachi.
  • 2 (Grade 6) Global Runner-Up Anabia Imtanan, Winnington School, Khewra

“Winning two out of six global awards is a significant achievement for Pakistani students, competing against thousands worldwide. Said Arshad Saeed Husain, Managing Director of Oxford University Press Pakistan, who expressed his pride. This demonstrates Pakistan’s enormous creativity and how OUPP remains a vibrant venue for exhibiting such genius on a worldwide scale.

The Oxford Big Read, a global initiative by Oxford University Press. Seeks to promote a love of reading while showcasing students’ literacy and creative writing skills. Since its launch in 2015, the competition has expanded in scope and influence. Inspiring students to read critically and write about what they have learned.
